Well I haven't updated in a while. It has been a terrific
summer.
Casey is still a pup and listening well to Charlie.
I'd post more picks but they are all the same, playing, on tour, eating and
sleeping.

June 30th 06 Morning
Well, almost a full productive work week behind us. Not much new to report. Casey is still a puppy and things in my shop that I never thought could be knocked over,,,...are. There was a string hanging on the other side of a hydro pole, swaying in the wind that held him at bay forever. He plants his hind legs and then stretches way out to investigate things. The cats absolutely adore Casey. He gives them so much attention and grooming. He has even won over grumpy cat Billy. He seems to be gentle with the ladies but thinks nothing of dropping a guy to his knees with a well aimed tail or nose poke.
He is a velcro dog. No need for a fence. The other night was
the first time he left me, to go to bed early. I had been sleeping on his mat
with him so Charlie wouldn't boss him out of the room. I finally go upstairs and
he's snoring in my bed, Charlie is on the big mat. So I lay down with Charlie
while I figure out the best action, but fall asleep. When I wake up, everyone is
on the bed and I'm on the floor. Enough is enough. Plus, he snores, loud.
June 25th 06 Evening
This dog's official Canadian name is Casey James (Cj) McNeill.
June 25th 06
Well, another evening around the fire, and what a nut. Casey got the
zoomies and crashed into the wood pile, came running straight to me and then
flopped down and started crying. I checked him all over and there was no sign of
injury. I think he just scared himself because he took off again at zoomie
speed. We tried out a few more toys and everything is his favorite. We tried a
chew toy that bragged "hours of enjoyment"...less than two minutes. So
we're going to stick to the $1 hockey balls.
I left him home today and he apparently spent the hours waiting at the shop door
for me to reappear. When I did come home he was happy but cross with me. He did
wiggle bum, got a pat and then gave me That Look over his shoulder. He drinks
out of Charlie's pool but is mystified as to why anyone would jump in a water
dish and lay down.

We spent the evening around the fire last night and Cj's foolishness was
out in fine form. The first thing that he did was go and bring all the cats
home. Then he tried to get them to play. Next it was on to Charlie who was only
interested in playing with his ball. You could see the wheels turning. "If
I steal Charlie's ball, he'll play with me" That went on for quite a while
until Casey pooped right out. Then Charlie went over to him and gave him the
ball, kinda like a momento. Very sweet.
A couple of the few non action shots.

What
a wonderful dog. He fits in as though he's been here for years. Casey is really
inquisitive and sometimes has flashes of real intelligence. Yesterday, a friend
stopped by for coffee break. As we we're sitting there Casey was kind of
pestering, politely but pestering all the same. We just kept talking. All of a
sudden, Casey trots over with his empty water bucket in his mouth and drops it
at our feet. Not satisfied with our dumbstruck reaction, he grabs the bucket and
flings it. Of course, I just had to tell my friend what an intelligent breed and
dog Casey was. Then we went over to the automotive shop to have a look at an
engine. We got to car and I opened the bonnet. For reasons yet to be explained,
Casey leaped into the air and landed on the engine.
Again I was dumbstruck, but this time had no comment on the intelligence of my
bright dog.
Casey has also made Maddie's cat so comfortable that Mark the cat is constantly
in the house now.
A customer drove up the other day in an extended cab pickup. The driver got out
and left the door open. A no no on the yard now. Casey, thinking this was an
invitation, jumped into the truck scaring the life out of the occupants.
I don't think he thought it through because then he was trapped up there and
afraid to jump down
June 19th
Well there is a new McNeill in town. His name is
Casey James
or Cj for short.
(Casey James McNeill when he's in trouble).
It was quite a weekend. 31hrs of just the driving. I'll post again soon but just
looking to finish the day and sleep. He now weighs 90lbs.
Thanks to all that helped.

Operation Fetch Mitch is a go. We are heading to meet him coming the other way on Saturday/Sunday in Madison, Wi. His foster dad is driving him. Should have the pics up by Tuesday. Yehaw!
June 13th 06
Mitch has gained 15lbs!
Our hang up is to get him either to Madison Wisconsin or Sault Saint Marie Ont.
Madison is preferred because I can do the whole trip with the aid of caffeine
and naps... 25hrs round trip (and what ever Mitch needs). The Soo is 32hrs round
trip but on the way home we can crash in Thunder bay, Ont
(port Arthur/Fort William) and recoup. Any ideas or encouragement is
appreciated. Either way, I leave Saturday Morning to go get him.
June 12, 06
I
received this update on Mitch last night.
"He will be well worth the trouble of sorting out transport when you get
him. He is a big love, with not a mean bone in his starved body."
June 11th 06
Nothing new to report. Still trying to arrange transport.
If we can get him from Middleville, Michigan to Madison Wisconsin then we are home free. If you might know how, please contact me @ Comments
June 9th 06
Mitch has his health cert and all his shots, he's ready to go.
June 8th, 06
Mitch goes for his health certificate tomorrow, paws crossed.
And he has learned to sit.
June 07, 06
Well, my most recent piece of tail is a skinny little fella from Michigan. His names so far are Danie and Mitch. When we get to know his personality we'll settle on a name. He's going to be a permanent McNeill. Rex and Charlie's little brother. I don't know anything more about him, other than he is now safe, but I'll Post here as I do.
He likes his walks and then cuddles for the rest of the day.
I could use some help getting him from Michigan to Manitoba when he is healthy enough to travel. If you have any contacts or ideas that could help, please use my Comments Page to reach me.
I'll keep an up to date planning/offer status on this page to monitor progress.
